What’s a basic idea of the WIP’s plot? (Without spoilers. 😜)

The empire is slowly taking over all of the Seven Countries. A slave boy, an orphaned elf, and a exiled princess all find their lives intertwined in the war, and as the empire begins making its move, their lives begin to change. Jasira is exiled from her country, and she takes on a quest for justice and a way to get back. Aideen’s search for the truth begins to stretch much farther than she ever expected. Weylin finds himself once again haunted by the empire, and he scrambles for a way to finally free himself.

What genre is this story written in?

Fantasy. Probably high fantasy. 🤔

What is the WIP’s estimated word count?

It’s currently at 61,000 words, and I’m just starting stage one of edits/rewrites. I think it’ll reach around 65,000-70,000 words.

What is the beautiful, complex, or intriguing land this story is set in? When is it set?

It’s set in the world of the Seven Countries—yes, the characters were so creative when naming their lands—but the characters are mainly in the desert kingdom of Dalhana and the quiet, cold, and wet country of Fellnor.

Where do you find inspiration for the WIP?

Books like: The Lord of the Rings, Of Fire and Ash, and The Songkeeper Chronicles.

What is the theme of this story, and how does it impact the characters?

The themes have switched once or twice since I started, but they are now about doubt and courage. Weylin especially struggles with both, but all three MCs have certain obstacles they have to learn through.

Who are main characters? Why is this story about them?

Weylin, a slave boy with a hidden past that he wouldn’t tell you no matter what you did. He struggles with doubt and his trust has been broken so many times it barely exists anymore, but he has a hidden streak of courage and will protect the helpless at any cost.

Aideen, an orphan elven maid who grew up in a country of humans, who yearns for the real truth of many things. Her merciful heart stretches towards anyone in need, and even though she is easily discouraged, she is filled with unwavering hope.

And Jasira, an eftirl princess who’s recently been exiled from her country because of a crime she didn’t commit. Stubborn, courageous, and sarcastic, Jasira has a strong temper and fierce loyalty towards her family and country.

This story is about them because it half of it wouldn’t even happen if it weren’t for them.

Who is the ultimate evil, and what is he/she doing?

You could say the the ultimate villain is Emperor Haldoras Jdorin… but there may just be an evil even greater than him lurking in the Shadows…

Where are the side characters, who are they, and why will they become my favorite? 😇

The two main side characters are Siridean and Ambassador Ataerath. Siridean is a mysterious, intriguing character with a complex character arch and great scenes. I have no idea how Ambassador Ataerath could become anyone’s favorite. He’s cruel, sly, annoying, talks too long about anything, and is some of the brains behind the evil of the empire.

Who’s your favorite character to write?

Weylin. He’s been through so much, but still somehow remains pure. Siridean’d be my next choice.

What’s a quote that describes each MC?

What’s your favorite thing about the WIP?

The fact that it’s the greatest fantasy idea I’ve come up with, and I have yet to give up on it. And the amazing cast of characters.

What is the first sentence of the first paragraph of the first page of the first chapter?

A tall door stood alone in a cold wall of white stone. (Grand, I know. 😆)

Now, to end the post, share a short scene from the WIP of some character saying goodbye. (If you have such a scene.)

Jasira scowled. What a way to lower her guard. She turned slowly, gazing up at the soldier standing above her.

“Did you really think you could hide from us?” He grinned, the sharp scar running down his nose and chin creating the illusion that it was split in half.

“Why would I?” Jasira shrugged.

The man frowned, glancing at her in confusion. His grip loosened slightly.

Jasira grinned.

Kicking up her feet, she propelled herself off of his stomach and over the barrels, landing in the dirt in the other side.

Picking herself up, she stepped towards the tent’s front flaps. Smirking at the soldier’s efforts to regain his breath and stand, she grabbed a flap. “Goodbye.”

And… I’ve already tagged everyone, so I suppose that’s it. 😂 Thanks for reading!
