Hey guys! My name’s M. L. Milligan, but you can call me Mac. 😜 And this *pats a very tall guy’s head* is SGT Theodore Savage (just don’t call him “Theo”).
Introduce your side character to me—who is he? What story is he from?
My buddy with me is SGT Theodore Savage of the USAF, better known as just Savage to his buddies. He first makes an appearance in Undefined, my short story in the Seize the Fight anthology series!
What is his personality?
Savage is very much a teddy bear. He loves to help people and has a huge heart.
What gave/gives you inspiration for him?
I’m not quite sure where I got the inspiration for him specifically, if I’m being honest. I just loved the idea of a big guy with a big heart.
Was h supposed to be in the story, or was he a sudden I-have-no-idea-how-you-got-here addition?
Oh, Savage was definitely a “Hey guys, wassup?” kinda character. I have no clue where he’d been hiding throughout the beginning of the series, but he obviously wanted some attention, and now he has it. 😁
What is his role in the story?
Savage’s role is that of the big brother figure to both Laylah and Levi (the main characters of this series). He’s the one who goes out of his way to make sure everyone’s okay.
“Sergeant Savage said to call him the second you . . . oh, how did he put it?” She paused, then smiled. “‘The second he so much as stirs an inch of that ungrateful carcass of his.’”
Yep. That was Savage alright.
What is his past and how has it shaped the character he is now?
Savage grew up on a ranch with lots of animals and a sister to keep in line. His “mama hen” attributes definitely started at a young age.
What is his greatest struggle or fear?
He’s not exactly an open book. *folds my arms* But I think his greatest struggle would be the fact that he has such a caring and giving heart, yet witnesses so much pain and hardship.
Is he a vice or virtue to the protagonist?
Oh, he’s definitely a virtue. I honestly don’t know where Levi would be without him. Probably stuck in a ditch or in trouble with his sister, if I had to wager a guess. 😂
Does he like his name, or would he trade anything in the world for a new one?
He’s not overly fond of his first name, but I think he kinda likes being called “Savage.”
“I don’t think Savage would appreciate being called a Chickadee.”
Character Appearance: Hair? Eyes? Height? Favorite color and least favorite food? Other?
Savage just barely made it to the six foot club, and sports a brown buzzcut and baby blue eyes. His favorite color is green and his least favorite food is anything seafood.
“Tattle? Me?” [Savage] looked slightly offended. “Never. Right, Laylah?”
His sister hid a grin behind her orange cream soda. “Riiight.”
