Cloak of the Light

Cloak of the Light, by Chuck Black, is the first book in the Wars of the Realm series. It’s a spiritual warfare allegory, set in modern day America.

Drew Carter’s life is forever changed when a science accident leaves him temporarily blinded. When he regains his vision, he realizes he can see things no one else an. Light and Dark invaders, with unearthly powers, that seem intent on taking over civilization. The book follows him as he tries to figure out what the invaders are here for, and as he searches for his friend, Ben, who may be the key to understanding this whole thing. The end is an excellent climax, ending in a cliffhanger that will make you immediately pick up book 2.

Drew is unsaved throughout the entire book, and does use the word ‘heck,’ from time to time. He also goes to a party of teenagers where there is alcohol, but he does not drink it, and is disgusted in partying in general. The author recommends this book for 13 and up, because of some violence and the aforementioned reasons—but everything is well written, and points towards the Lord.

There are tons of messages about courage, faith, and good vs. evil throughout Cloak of the Light, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it the multiple times I’ve read it.

You can find it on Amazon and
