Shadow

Shadow, by Kara Swanson, is the second—and last—book in the Heirs of Neverland duology, and another great Peter Pan retelling. It is set in decaying Neverland, where nothing is as it should be.

Peter Pan and Claire have both made it to Neverland, but it is not the playful refuge they were expecting. Neverland is being torn apart from the inside out. The book follows Peter, as he fights for his home and struggles with the prospect of growing up; and Claire, as she tries to rescue her brother and struggles to figure out who to trust. The climax is a twist of adventure, and the end is absolutely amazing.

The climax does leave you slightly confused, and unsure of who the actual villain is. But it has some great scenes of friendship and sacrifice that will make you love it.

Shadow continues the theme of growing up, and shows it in a great way. I really loved the book, and it was a fitting end to the series.

You can find it on Amazon and Enclave Publishing.
