Library of Characters: Daniella

Hey! I’m Daniella Ebeid! I like to sometimes go by Ella Bede 😀

I’ve written stories, primarily in either fantasy or science fiction genre, with a romantic subplot. This story is no exception- other than I’m actually planning on writing this one as a full length novel and getting it published. This is my first time on this blog, anddd this is my first book. This story has alternating points of views for each chapter.

Hope you enjoy learning about this villain!

Introduce your antagonist to me—who is he? What story is he from?

Andrew Vorek. He’s from my current fantasy novel- I haven’t decided the name yet lol (Maybe I’ll go with ‘Why Kill One When You Can Kill All’ but that seems a lot more violent than the book actually is)

What is his personality?

Andrew’s a little…strange. He’s very smart, and strategic, but he decides to sort of dumb himself down, so that the ‘good guys’ don’t actually realize what he’s doing. He’s very subtle, and in the beginning, one of the characters question whether he’s a bad guy or not. He tends to be kinder towards people and act like a typical person in his position of power (a king), but it’s really just to fool the ‘good guys’. He is a very jealous person, but hides it behind his ‘good guy’ act.

Give a synopsis of his past

Sooo…I’m going to try to not make any spoilers for this… but here we go. Something… tragic happened in his life, so he went to his best friend for support. His best friend wasn’t free to talk- he was also going through something, but since the best friend was more quiet and tended to keep to himself, Andrew never realized that- This went on for some time, until Andrew got tired of it, got jealous of his friend for not receiving the same treatment, and in an effort to create equality, forced his circumstances upon him.

That’s a part of the story…I don’t want to spoil it all now…

What gave/gives you inspiration for him?

I’m not sure…I think it was more of the idea of a subtly bad person…someone who purposely made himself seem like an easier opponent to force the good guys to underestimate him.

“Leon, I have decided that you are to be Anatola’s bodyguard. She will be in Bendintise for quite a while now, and I will need you to protect her.”

How has his past shaped the villain he is now?

Andrew has chosen not to trust anyone anymore… deciding from now on, he’ll be the only one to break anyone’s trust. He’s lost sympathy to everyone, because in his mind, everyone left him, so he should leave everyone, too.  He trusts his ability to make people fear him, though (his henchman).

Does he see himself as a villain?

Of course not. Andrew just sees himself as the guy his country needs to expand and grow.

Does he work alone? Or does he have ‘henchmen.’

Oh no. He has a henchman (probably my favorite character) named Leon, who I mentioned in the above quote. He is a king, so he has an entire army to back him up, but his main guy is Leon.

Who is his arch nemesis, and why?

Parker was the best friend mentioned:)

What is his favorite and least favorite part of being a villain?

Okay, this is difficult, because he doesn’t really see himself as a villain. But for the least favorite, it would have to be having no one to trust, no one open up to, no one to talk to- no one he can feel vulnerable with, and he’s always jealous of people who can do that- especially Parker. His favorite thing would probably be the mind games he gets to play- he finds it fun, like a game.

“I’m not…wicked, Leon. You’ve got to understand that. I just chose not to bind myself by the chains of morality: that’s the difference between me and everyone before me. I’m sacrificing just a tiny bit of justice in order to bring about total justice and peace.”

A pause.

“And I suppose it has something to do with Parker, but that’s mostly irrelevant.”

What is his greatest struggle or fear?

Being betrayed again. Physically, his right wrist is very weak, and can’t fully strengthen again. But he hides that very well. (I forgot to mention he’s left-handed)

What is he most afraid of losing?

His smarts.

What does he want most? What is his ultimate motive?

Seems kind of ironic, but he wants justice and peace…the above quote demonstrates that. His idea is just using unjust ways to bring to justice, and violent ways to bring to peace.

Character Appearance:

Hair? Reddish brown, slightly wavy Eyes? Hazel  Height? 6’4  (he’s more of the tall lanky sort, instead of the ‘bulging with muscles’ type)

Opinions on ice cream vs. cake? Other?

Unfortunately, ice cream doesn’t exist in this fantasy…but Andrew would much rather have Lemon cream pie, or maybe cupcakes. He lovesssss cupcakes like an eight year old lol.

Okay, I’m going to take artistic liberty here and add a couple more than one, if you don’t mind:D

“What do you mean? It’s just like a fairy tale! ‘They all live happily ever after’. They’re together, one happy family!” he smiled, and for one second, just for one, I dared to believe him. Then, a haunting smirk lifted up his lips.

“Underground, in caskets, of course. The End!”

“Don’t worry about that, I’m very good at giving the illusion of choice. They both have to be eliminated, of course. We just have to…break their trust, first. And break Parker, like he broke me.”

“It’s really the only choice I have. I want to create a society that is just, fair, everyone getting what they deserve- peaceful, without these petty fights. So go on. Let the fire burn.”

Also reminder that these will probably get edited, I haven’t finished my first draft yet sooooo we’ll see what happens lol. Who knows, maybe I’ll change my mind and write the whole book in Andrew’s perspective, with him realizing he’s the bad guy at the end >:)

  1. Andrew sounds so interesting! I especially like how he’s the subtler kind of villain–I always love those ❤ (Also, whether or not you decide to keep it, that title is really cool xD)

      • It’s kind of happened to me before with other people. Sometimes I see their posts but WordPress is sometimes difficult.
Oh no problem, I wasn’t with anything I just wanted to make sure they were going through since sometimes they don’t.
